What’s the deal with morning routines?
& how to build your perfect one
Welcome to The Productivity Blueprint newsletter 🗞️
How did the boredom challenge go last week? Were you able to find the 10 minutes each day to give yourself and mind some unstimulated moments?
I quickly realized how often I am constantly searching for content or input. Or how I rushed to overthinking and planning the rest of my day in a moment of silence.
If you missed last week, you can catch up here in our newsletter about the benefits of boredom 🙂
Today, we’re taking a look at morning routines and whether they’re worth the hype. Let’s dive in.
“Eat a live frog first thing in the morning and nothing worse will happen to you the rest of the day.”
“Anyone that professes to wake up at 5 am, take a cold shower, spend 15 minutes as a downward dog, and make a spinach smoothie before going for an ‘easy’ 5k, holds godlike powers.”
I know I’ve definitely felt inadequate when it comes to my morning routine. Which is why this article was a timely lesson for me.
The author, Eve, challenges the overly complex morning routines often glorified by successful figures. Is it really their morning routines that have led to their success? Or are they just intelligent? 😅
Eve shares her journey from being obsessed with 'millionaire morning routines' to adopting a a simple and straightforward approach: waking up at 5 AM, enjoying coffee, and diving into her writing.
As Alex Hormozi put it: “the best morning routine is the one that gets you to work the quickest.” Instead of following a rigid, multi-step regimen, the key lies in simplicity and focus.
So if you’re like me, and questioning whether it is worth it, let’s go over some of the benefits:
Silence has a way of making ambition loud
This routine amplifies the quietness and stillness of early mornings, fostering a space for ambition, intention, and passion.
Starting the day with the intention
Doing the things most important to you at the start of the day sets the day off in the right direction.Prioritizing passion
The very notion of setting time aside for your passions is an act of self-careDirection makes magic
It’s not time we lack, it’s direction.Productivity is real in the morning
At 5 am, there is zero interruption. All of these perks of waking up early mean one thing: productivity goes through the roof.
To achieve these benefits, you don’t need an overcomplicated and long routine.
The morning routine that works is the one that allows you to hit your goals. Don’t do what everyone else is doing, look at yourself and ask what is it that you need to be doing.
So, what is that for you?
A unique alarm app that ensures you wake up on time, and get out of bed, by using creative methods like taking a photo of a pre-set location in your house. What we love: Customize your wake-up dashboard with the apps and news you want to see, such as weather or quotes. | This app is designed to help you track and manage your habits. Set up to 12 tasks that you want to turn into habits, and its user-friendly interface makes it easy to stay on track and motivated to keep your streak. What we love: Not all tasks are for everyday. Set only a few days in your week for certain habits so you don’t break your streak! |
💡 Challenge of the week
This week, try to simplify your morning routine. Wake up an hour earlier than usual, and dedicate this time exclusively to a task or activity that aligns with your goals or passions. Avoid complex routines; instead, focus on one or two activities that set a positive tone for your day. Note the impact on your productivity and overall mood.
Looking forward to hearing how this goes for everyone next week.
Until then,
